I don't want to be one of those girls

That says they don’t know

Who they are

To use it as an excuse

To rectify

Their shortcomings

Each and every time

Because I know

That the person who I was

Is still in my hands;

Certain of the world

And what lies beneath its lands

And I still feel her certainty

Breathe as I run,

With guilt seeping in

Each time I wrong

Heart bleeding

With the nostalgia

Of her old songs

Care needed like air

To amend our wrongs

She makes me believe

That is who I am

And why

No matter what

I choose to hold on...
